This case study was conducted for an eleven-year-old boy with PTSD symptoms caused by a ski accident that happened one and a half years ago. He has shown irritability, outbursts of anger, difficulty of concentration, and tic disorder. He had serious problems in relationships with his peers and parents. Psychological assessments revealed post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and parent-child relationship problems. Preschool PTSD Treatment (PPT) was modified to treat the child. The treatment was evaluated by comparing pre with post states of the child based on various rating scales. The specific
CBT techniques that were used in this study included progressive muscle relaxation, diaphragmatic breathing, positive self talk, and positive thinking. In this protocol, the cartoons of PTSD symptoms and stories were used to help the child to understand PTSD. During the structured 18 sessions, he made progress in terms of interpersonal relations and attention-related behaviors.
